2018 Information gathering events and preparation for the next public meeting

Online: over 70 people completed an online survey and several more sent comments via the park master plan website
Presentation and Feedback Sessions: Central Oregon Coalition for Access (COCA) and the PTA at Bear Creek Elementary School (in Spanish and English)
Interviews: City of Bend’s Planning and Development team, Bend Chamber of Commerce and Central Oregon Visitors Association (COVA)
Public Meetings: in Bend for local visitors and in Springfield/Eugene for statewide visitors
Advisory Committee Groups: local and statewide stakeholders

We learned what you love and value about the Butte and what you felt needs improvement. Pilot Butte is a small state park in the middle of a growing urban city. It became clear that it is a beloved park for its nature and its ability to get people on trails close to home. It helps individuals and families be physically active and spend time together. Visitors love the native ecology and environment and care a great deal about maintaining and protecting it.

Thank you to all those who participated. Your positive, constructive and enthusiastic engagement has contributed greatly to the planning process. We are now working with the Advisory Committee to create draft plan proposals. The Advisory Committee will be meeting on February 28th for an all-day workshop. The meeting is open to the public however no public comment will be taken at this time.

The outcome of the work with the Advisory Committee will be presented to the public for feedback on April 8th. Details are below:
